Boys will be boys. But then there comes a time when they become men, and well, still dress like boys. And that just doesn’t cut it. Given the latest range of casual wear for men, including the trends in t-shirts, jeans, and shirts; it’s quite possible to pull off a sophisticated and smart look. This article is filled with tips and tricks to help you dress like a gentleman look right off the bat. Let’s start.
As much as any man loves his tshirts, it really doesn’t help with looking smart or sharp. And if a prim-and-proper look is what you have in mind, then you better get rid of the typical mens tshirts with round-necks, graphic prints, bright colours et all. T-shirts are meant for casual occasions alone, and by that, we mean ‘very casual’. Like if you were sitting in your room and playing Assassin’s Creed with your friends or if you took the dog for a walk. So, for every time you want to pull off a haute couture, or anything remotely close to it, the t-shirts need to go. We will, however, offer one exception. The polo t-shirts can stay.
Moving on, let’s talk about men’s jeans. Here again, there are two kinds – the very casual styles and the smart styles. Casual styles are baggy pants, low-waist jeans, or jeans with retro elements glued to it. These are not quite what you should be wearing if you want to come off as a well-dressed man. Youngsters can pull this off. But if you’re someone well past 25 years of age, we suggest you suit-up. Think polo t-shirts with tapered jeans. Maybe chinos and a crisp white shirt if you want a casual wear. Apart from that you really can’t go wrong with boot-cut jeans or slim-fit pants. And if you like it a little simple, even the good old regular-style jeans will do.
The complete look doesn’t end with getting the right mens shirts and trouser on. You might want to add some fun. Maybe experiment a little. Add a few layers. Spruce things up a bit and find your own style. Need a few easy examples? Wrap a stole along with your polo t-shirts. Layer it up with a cardigan. If you’re in the midst of a hot summer day, you can wear an open shirt over a v-neck t-shirt.
And it’s not just clothing. Think in terms of accessories. A nice buckle for your belt. A swanky timepiece for you to flaunt. Maybe cuff-links if it’s a more formal occasion. The options are many and how you dress-up is really up to you.
So, what’s it going to be?
